GEARBOX RIDDIM – VARIOUS ARTISTS (TRUCKBACK RECORDS)

The

TruckBack Records’ breakthrough Gearbox Riddim,  established a new trend in Jamaican music with its seductive dancehall vibe. Led by Erup’s hit single, (#1 in Jamaica and #85 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip Hop chart), the Gearbox reached #1 on the reggae charts for a second time with Harry Toddler’s “Don’t Run In” and a third time with Deva Bratt’s “Bag Of Talking”. The Gearbox also included standout tracks from Beenie Man, Elephant Man and Vybz Kartel and was nominated for Riddim of the Year in 2007 and 2008

“Click My Finger” took over the Caribbean as well as the BBC 1Xtra Dancehall chart (United Kingdom), the New York and South Florida Reggae charts (USA) and the Jamaican Music Countdown (Jamaica) then landed among the top ten on HOT97, New York’s influential urban radio station, before settling in for an 11-week stay on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip Hop 100 chart in late 2008/early 2009.
