Curated by Herbie Miller (Jamaica Music Museum) and Joshua Chamberlain (Soul of the Lion), Equal Rights: Reggae & Social Change uses record album covers, supported by explanatory text panels, film and sound clips, to document how these arts, grounded in the Afro-Caribbean roots of the island’s inhabitants, have addressed social and political issues in America and internationally.

Funded in part by a grant from the NH Humanities Council and Plymouth State University’s Karl Drerup Art Gallery (Catherine Amidon, Director), Equal Rights: Reggae and Social Change was exhibited at Plymouth State University, Miami-Dade Public Library and around the country prior to coming to Jamaica at the request of the Jamaica Music Museum.
