This past week, “We Run England“, the new reggae song performed by Mr Williamz (2008 BBC Artiste of the Year) on Green Lion’s More Spiritual riddim, proved music has no borders or boundaries. Music fans flocked to release parties in both England (UK) and New England (USA) featuring the creators of the music themselves. Mr Williamz ran the show at Madd Raff in London, the weekly bashment party hosted by the UK’s bashment leaders The Heatwave, and in New England, Green Lion launched the movement stateside. “We Run England” has been receiving consistent praise worldwide for Green Lion’s infectious foundation dancehall beat in the spirit of Junjo Lawes’ Ganja Smuggling riddim as well as Mr Williamz’ playful yet personal storytelling style. Hailed as “brilliant… playful, genuinely funny and most important of all musically dynamite too” (Music Like Dirt), the song broke through national borders and is now in rotation from London to New York to Jamaica. Last week, party goers in England and New England were excited for their chance to get personal with Mr Williamz and Green Lion on two different continents.
